The minute the relaxer was rinsed out of my hair and the shampoo was being applied, I could feel the difference, I could feel my scalp being massaged and knew I had made the right decision.

6 Day Post Relaxer - Donut Bun

I'm not sure what was going on with my ends in the last two months but they were in need of a little trim. Well, it started off as a trim but then I decided to have a little more taken off as I'm loving the shorter look at the moment.

I intend on having either box braids or twists installed in my hair for a month or two once it starts getting cold so that will be the time when I start to focus on growing out my hair again but for now, whilst the weather is nice, I'm enjoying my hair. I won't lie, there are times when I'm late in the morning and I find myself missing my longer lengths so I could wrap up a quick bun but I still have long enough length to bun when I want to and I'm glad I got the ends cut off when I did so my hair was healthy and thick for the summer.

Thursday 25th July 2013

I've been M.I.A. for the last few weeks due to my son breaking up for the summer holidays, work etc but now I'm back.

Back in July, I got to about 10-11 weeks post and was in despair. Here in the UK we were having a heat wave and I wanted cute hair to go with my cute summer outfits and my hair was not playing ball.

I got to Thursday 25th July and I could take no more, I had an ORS HaiRepair Relaxer in normal strength from when i went to the Afro Hair & Beauty Show in May this year and they were selling for £3.00. In hindsight, I should of bought a few boxes but silly me I just one for me and one for my mum. I then got home from work excited to find I couldn't locate my relaxer brush. I was adamant that my hair would still be done regardless so instead used the back of a comb and my fingers to relax my hair.

I applied both the scalp and hair protector on my scalp and on the length of my hair excluding the regrowth. It has been a while since I self relaxed and I was conscious that when I did, I used to leave the relaxer on for far too long, so after applying relaxer to each section and then smoothing through with my fingers, I'd applied and washed my relaxer out within 20 minutes.

When I rinsed out the relaxer and went on to shampoo and condition my hair, I realised that I had unintentionally texlaxed my hair yet again. Texlaxed is when the relaxer isn't left on for long enough or is not smoothed through the regrowth to help straighten the new growth, leading to under-processed hair.

By time I applied my leave ins and blow-dried my hair, the new growth was lovely and soft but not bone straight, instead just a looser curl to the new growth. I was annoyed at myself for rushing the process but my birthday was coming up in two weeks so I wanted softer straight hair.

I can't really comment on the New ORS HaiRepair Relaxer as I unintentionally texlaxed this time, but I will definitely give this relaxer another try. I haven't seen it in the hair shops here in Reading, UK as yet but I have found a website called www.hairgrade.com which is a UK site who seem to just solely sell ORS products and they sell this relaxer on there, so I will be ordering a box or two.

I went away for a last minute holiday with my family the week after relaxing my hair, we went to Majorca for a week and it was 42 degrees nearly every day. I have never sweat so much in my life and this meant my hair was sweating out as well so I was co-washing every other day. I ended up just doing twist outs as straight hair just wasn't working in that heat.

Once my friend had applied the relaxer and it had been in for the adequate time, I rinsed my hair thoroughly before neutralizing my hair with the shampoo provided three times before using ORS Creamy Aloe shampoo for the final wash to ensure all relaxer had been washed out of my hair.

I followed up with a 45 min deep conditioning treatment using ORS Replenishing Conditioner and the ORS kids conditioner provided mixed with Avocado oil, EVOO & Grapeseed oil.

After rinsing out my deep conditioner, I left my hair to t-shirt dry for 30 minutes to absorb excess water.

I then applied my leave ins which was Cantu Shea Butter Leave In and S-Curl and then finger detangled my hair before air-drying using the scarf method.

Once my hair was 90% dry, I then moisturized and sealed with Olive Oil & Mango Butter moisturiser and Avocado Oil.

After my recent setback, my hair is back to just past armpit length.

3 days post relaxer 27.05.13 Me & my Little Man

Late posting this as I have had a hectic few weeks.

Once my friend had applied the relaxer and left, I rinsed my hair thoroughly before neutralizing my hair with the ORS Creamy Aloe shampoo four times to ensure all relaxer had been washed out of my hair.

I followed up with a 45 min deep conditioning treatment using ORS Replenishing Conditioner mixed with Avocado oil, EVOO & Grapeseed oil.

After rinsing out my deep conditioner, I left my hair to t-shirt dry for 30 minutes to absorb excess water.

I then applied my leave ins which was Cantu Shea Butter Leave In and S-Curl before finger detangling my hair before air-drying using the scarf method.

Once my hair was 90% dry, I then moisturized and sealed with S-Curl and Avocado Oil.

This is the first time I have air-dried after relaxing my hair and I am loving the results. It feels so good to be able to run my fingers through my hair with no regrowth in the way.

After having my hair relaxed I like to keep it straight for the first 3-4 weeks so I will be wrapping hair at night and tying down with my faithful satin scarf.

After my recent trim, my hair is back to just past armpit length. As I am adamant not to use any heat on my hair, I haven't even straightened it for a length check or for the slick effect after my relaxer, air-drying and wrapping does the job.

• Pre-poo with a light protein for 25-30 mins with a heated cap, then rinse.
• Shampoo
• Deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner for 25-30 mins with heat or heat cap, then rinse.
• T-shirt dry for 30 mins.
• Apply Leave in conditioner.
• Separate hair into four sections and detangle hair from ends to roots.
• Air-dry with scarf method
• Moisturize and Seal
• Apply Castor Oil to my scalp in sections.
